A story rooted in purpose, heritage and good health

Our founder, Aiko Strasser, celebrates her admiration of matcha after discovering the long tradition of Japanese green tea culture when she ditched her daily coffee habit! With family on Kyushu island in southern Japan that are well respected 6th generation sake brewers, Aiko is over-the-moon to connect even more with her heritage and share this with her matcha community. A former landscape design architect who worked in the corporate environment for 15 years, she is passionate about the terroir and regions of Japanese tea fields and fascinating history of her ancestry.

Dissatisfied with the travesty of awful, low quality sad-bagged green teas that dominate markets and restaurants across the US, her mission began! She started sourcing high ranking matcha in Japan and bringing it to the US while also connecting more deeply with her heritage and sharing Japanese culture with the western world. Yes, this was clearly her new purpose!

We honor the history of tea culture in Japan and invite you to join us as we evolve on this journey of celebration from farm to cup!
