A story rooted in purpose, heritage and good health

Hi! I'm Aiko, owner of Matchalo. I absolutely adore matcha after discovering the fascinating history of green tea culture in Japan as I was ditching my daily coffee habit for something healthier! Dissatisfied with the travesty of awful, low quality sad-bagged green teas that dominate markets and cafes across America, my mission began and I started sourcing high ranking matcha in Japan. Born and raised in the US , I am over-the-moon to connect more deeply to my Japanese family + heritage and share this beautiful culture with my American matcha community.

With a professional background in landscape design, I worked for top landscape architecture firms in Los Angeles for the past 15 years, and I look forward to joining my experience in landscape with my passion about the terroir and regions of Japanese tea fields and fascinating history in Japan.

As a small business based on the principles of purpose, good health + promoting the heritage of Japanese tea, I look forward to partnering with Japanese tea farmers and producers to bring you delicious, high quality teas that reflect their dedication and skill in making uniquely crafted, small farm teas. I honor the history of tea culture in Japan and invite you to join me on this journey of exploration from field to cup!
