A chawan, or tea bowl, has been used in traditional tea ceremonies for preparing and drinking tea in Japan as early as the 13th century. A variety of types and styles of chawans have been developed over the years.
The bowl's intentionally deep and wide basin allows for enough room to vigorously whisk up the matcha without spilling.
There's nothing quite like the experience of sipping matcha from a traditional chawan matcha bowl!
